Mail Madness Post: 15 Things to put in a Care Package

Thursday, March 8, 2012

I love care packages. Always have. They are fun to receive and fun to make...but what to put in them? The internet is full of good ideas for overseas people, sick people and college students who are all in need of some postal TLC, but what about for a friend and an everyday expression of that friendship? Well, I'm sure there were (and continue to be) great online resources for those too, but I couldn't find any. If you were ever in this situation too, here's what I came up with:

Ideas for care packages:

1.            Homemade cookies or fudge

2.            paper fortune tellers (Bonus: hilarious fortunes as fun to write as they are to read!)

3.            Newspaper clippings that are revenant to the box-receiver

4.            A book (as a gift or just to borrow)

5.            A CD

6.            Cracker Jacks ( I always really enjoy the "prize" in the box. Feels like being a kid again)

7.            Animals etc. made out of pipe cleaners

8.            McDonald's  Happy Meal Toy

9.            Sudoku or Crossword Puzzles ( I like just throwing in one or two instead of a whole book. Sometimes you get more pleasure from a little than a lot. It can wear the novelty away.)

10.        Bunting, garland, or paper chains

11.        A list of what makes (the receiver) so awesome!

12.        Board Games (handmade ones are especially fun)

13.        Bubble bath, soap, or shower things

14.        Handmade or hand-colored paper dolls (Bonus: dolls of historical or book  characters the recipient has an interest in!)

15.        Framed Photo (Bonus: a picture of you two together)

This will be an on-going series, so keep posted (ha-ha. No more puns...I can almost promise!)
