Dress with Knee Socks | Dress with Fox Sweater | Dress with Brown Sweater | Dress with Brown Belt

The Isn't It Iconic dress from Modcloth is probably one of my most used closet items.  I've only had it since Christmas, but in the roughly 25 outfits I've shared here since then, four have included it!  Since it pairs well with other neutrals or bright colors, I can't wait to wear it more this summer!

These shots might be a bit familiar to you if you peruse the Modcloth Style Gallery; they've been added there.  I'm not quite such what to think of this new feature on their site. Certainly  it's an innovative way to get consumers to engage and to see real people in the clothes. Plus, I've met some really cool bloggers by following the links on there, including October Rebel and Anna of Melodic, Thrifty and Chic.  What it means in terms of promotion (either as bloggers trying to promote their blogs or businesses or brands promoting themselves) and as a social media tool, I'm not certain  Have you checked out the Modcloth Style Gallery or used it? Other companies are now also getting similar galleries for consumers to post photos on.  Any thoughts on it?

  1. I think a little white dress is so versatile! It adds a bit of lightness to one's wardrobe and works so well in every season-unlike black which is so hard to wear in the summer. I particularly like how simple, but layer-able this one is!
Not sure what to think of the Modcloth style gallery. I don't own anything from Modcloth so it does me no good at the moment! haha

    1. A white dress really does transition seasons well, you're right!

Also, Katie, I'm not sure how you'd feel about this one way or another, but you don't have to have Modcloth items in the photos to submit them to the gallery (though they do encourage you do tag "similar" items that they do sell, but that is optional). But it might be more trouble than it is worth to you, not sure...

    1. Thanks! Can't wait to see how hat looks

P.S. I know you have the URL in your comment, but when I click your name and go to your Google+ I don't see a link for it. Did you know you can add it (I only ask because the bf explained tat to me for the first time yesterday...)

  4. I just love white dresses. This one looks great on you. On its own it looks like it would be a great summer dress, but it seems like the perfect fall dress with that brown sweater and those boots. Actually, I love your shoes in all of these - especially those classy black flats. <3

  6. Love that little dress, and all the ways you've styled it! I love it with the double belts best, I think. As for the Style Gallery... as a new blogger, I think it's helped me quite a bit to promote my blog and gain some visibility, since you're able to have your link show up with all your photos. I think that if people like the outfit enough, they'll click on it and see my blog link. I often do the same with other submissions I see, and I'm often sad if they don't have a blog and I like their style! But it's obviously kind of limited to other people who are avid ModCloth customers (and probably most of them submit to the Gallery already). I definitely get inspired from seeing how other girls style ModCloth items. I think the benefit for ModCloth is that they engage girls to visit their site every day, even when not purchasing anything. Whenever they get their brand talked about or their site visited, I think they value that just as much as making an actual sale sometimes. Hence why I end up visiting the site every day. Hahah.

    1. Sammi,

You articulate so well all of what I had been thinking about the Style Gallery. I love it when a photo I like there has a link to follow!

In the industry I feel there is a shift to making consumers feel like part of a community as a way to keep them coming back. Modcloth is very effective at this both with their Style Gallery and their blog and social media outlets for sure!

  7. This dress really is versatile! It's such a cute, sweet piece. And I love that we both layered white dresses under Marisa's fox sweater!

And the style gallery really is the best. It's exposed me to some pretty great bloggers too!

    1. Ha- We did both do that, didn't we? :)

That's been my favorite par of the stye gallery. The new blogs I've been exposed to.

  8. I had no idea this was the same dress in all of these! You really did a beautiful job with transforming it. I love each one for different reasons. What a good buy! I never would've guessed a white dress would be so useful.

I like the style gallery...especially when looking for an outfit on someone and they started adding some to the actual item pages. Which is great, but I don't think it helps promote our blogs too much. I do get heavy traffic when my photos go up, but rarely steady or new dedicated followers. Though, sometimes, yes. I also don't agree with how they do not promote our blogs when using our photos on facebook/tumblr/main page. I've seen a bunch of us flock together ladies (yourself included) photos on things from their gallery without any credit. Which I think would really help make our blogs bigger and they should work on that (in my opinion). But it's a pretty cool tool overall.

    1. Thanks; it has been a useful addition to the wardobe, more than I had expected.

You bring up a good point about the photos used on the facebook/tumblr/website pages. I've noticed a lot of the Flock Together ladies on it but with no credit. Before the Style Gallery, I noticed sometimes they'd use photos of bloggers on the products page with a URL in the corner of the photo. Maybe as this tool is refined, they will be able to start doing that or embedding a link (even if just to the specific Style Gallery Photo's page) more easily. But it is fun (and addictive!)

  10. Seeing how you've remixed me this really makes me want a little white dress in my wardrobe! You make it look so different from one outfit to the next. I love how Modcloth is now using Style Gallery photos in the actual product listing...I like seeing the clothing on real ladies and getting the some inspiration too.

    1. I love seeing the photos in the product listing too. They are much bigger than the small photos one can attach to the reviews, so I feel like it gives a good idea of what the product is like on women in their everyday life.

You would look so cute in a white dress!

  11. i really love that the product images get the real life photos with it. I think modcloth knows how to market well. I'm happy to give them free marketing, especially if I get a bit of free marketing in return!

PS! i love this dress! That's the more important part here! fox sweater outfit is one of my faves - it fits so well together.

  13. Love how you styled this! Is there a tag in the dress by any chance with a brand name? This dress sold out on Modcloth, so I'm trying to see if it's online anywhere else. :)
