What I Wore: Shirt (Forever 21), Bracelet (New York and Company), Locket (Etsy), Necklace (borrowed), Belt (vintage), skirt (handmade; gift), mocassins (Minnetonka)

There is certainly a trick to dressing for the summer. That's right; I said it. Summer. It went straight from snow to 80+ in less than a week. This is why Spring is not a favorite season with me; it is a nonexistent season.

Can we talk about this skirt for a second? It was the one my aunt made for me after seeing how much I loved this skirt of Ashley's. I got it in winter and loved it with a slouchy sweater donned on top, but have been dying to style it for summer. Summer can bring it's own styling challenges. With heat, who wants to put on more than necessary?! My look in these months often tends to the more bohemian as layers of necklaces go on in place of layers of clothes. I love it, but am also looking to mix things up a bit.

So, tell me, please, what are your tips for looking good in the summer?

  3. The skirt is pretty! I love how your dressed it down for summer =) The weather here is pretty strange too, we get beautiful sunshine, and then around noon it decides to change and give us heavy, heavy rain instead. You can hear everyone here sniff and cough once in a while - yep, we all have the flu.

  4. I love how you've paired the more formal looking skirt with such simple pieces! I was just downstairs in my Fabric stache a few minutes ago looking at some navy satin, thinking it would make a fantastic midi skirt to pair with a t-shirt...and then I came across this outfit...and now I for sure have to make a midi out of some "formal-ish" fabric because it is such a great look!

  5. I love how you've made a satin formal looking skirt boho and wild. The mix of the textures, colours and the location are all just superb at showing off this fabulous styling.

The skirt on it's own would be just ho-hum for me. It's the way that you've styled it that makes it interesting.

We are still waiting for summer to arrive...seems a bit of winter is sticking around. Tonight it is going to FREEZE!!! What the??? I'll get back to you on the summer styling when it finally arrives : ) This winter has been endless and I seem to have forgotten what Spring and Summer look like.

  12. You always have incredible backdrops for your photos! <3 Speaking of, these are beautiful! The first photo is my favorite. Your pose and the way the skirt falls, it's really something. Whoever made that skirt/gifted it to you, make sure you tell him/her that s/he rocks! The color and fabric are wonderful. It looks so fluid and effortlessly chic.

  15. I love the first and the third one down, you look beautiful and the shots are really just stunning. Did A take these? If so, he is really outgoing himself! The backdrop is so incredible, all that beautiful open plain area is like the midwest version of the AZ desert and now that skirt.. glad you talked about it because that is so awesome of your aunt! I LOVE the shinner material and it fits you amazingly!
