What I Wore: Dress (Chicwish), Shirt (Mango), shoes (Rockport via giveaway), necklace and purse (vintage), leash (Martha Stewart via Pet Smart)

I love this outfit, but we both know that's not what you're looking at! This is Stella. Isn't she getting to be a big girl? She's fourteen weeks now. She loves to play with her toys (occasionally passing out in her toy basket and- true story- we don't always distinguish her as Not-A-Toy! Oops!). She is finally enjoying walks too.

Might as well be up front- the leash is mostly a prop. When we first got it, it was too big and heavy for little puppy necks, but now Stella has been taking walks sans leash! Lest you think this is bragging, none of it is my doing. The Boy has been great about training her. But this night we leashed her for fear of losing sight of her in the sagebrush. By the shore we let her roam free, and she would look back every few steps to make sure we were there. She's still a puppy (14 weeks, quite the baby still!); we know there will probably still be a chase scene or two in our future. But I've been really impressed and grateful for all the time and patience The Boy has exhibited in working with her.

Meanwhile, this outfit to me is quintessential summer- perfect for walking the dogs in a summer breeze, for barbecues in the pleasantly-cooling-evening, and curling up to my sweetie to see the stars. What are you looking forward to this summer?

  2. Aw, Stella is so cute! I am loving everything about this outfit, especially that red skirt (dress?). I'm on the hunt for a perfect a-line red skirt! And of course, you can never go wrong with gingham for summer, or any time of the year for that matter.

    1. Oh, thanks Elana. We certainly think she's something special. And you are right- it is a red dress (this one here in fact: https://www.activeanglesey.com/2013/03/what-i-wore-for-love-of-films.html)

  3. Oh wow! This outfit is just perfect! I loooove that dress worn as a skirt :) I have one that is very similar ^^ And ooooooooooh a puppy! She's darling and your boyfriend is training her super well. Our dogs still aren't able to go off the leash all the time since they chase after everything that crosses their path, haha. They're 12 and 6 already! x

  4. Stella is beautiful!!
There are certain breeds that are VERY easy to train without leashes! You have a Wire Fox Terrier right maybe an Irish Terrier? (maybe a mix with a little Welsh or Airedale Terrier?). Either way, all of those are very well trained breeds! I have had two Shetland Sheepdogs that never needed leashes.
I used to work at a pet store and sold (or played with???) many dogs, just to explain why I am trying to depict which exact breed you have hehe.

Your outfit is gorgeous and I really like the gingham top!

    1. My parents actually breed Fox terriers, and I currently live with them, so I've "had" her since she was born (she was the only female, so I knew she was the one we wanted right away). She lives at my fiance's house, so she could aclimate to his dog. They are now fast friends. She came when she was 8 or 9 weeks old.

She probably won't get too much bigger, an inch or so taller and filling out a bit. Females tend to be smaller and her mom definitely is on the smaller side.
