What I Wore: Shirt (Modcloth), Shorts (Old), Shoes and Tank Top (Old Navy), Purse (Paris Boutique)

Oh, man. I needed this change.

Long hair and I- we have a history. My father convinced my sister and to grow it out for years for some grand portrait he had in mind for the two of us. Years, people. Years, we grew it. Wasn't until I saw some school event photo did I even realize my hair was reaching all the way down my back and  that It Was Time. Photos were duly taken and we were in the car to the hairdresser's literally the very next moment. CHOP! As we walk out the door my best friend tells my little fourth grade self how happy she is her hair is now longer than mine. You can imagine the immediate regret that ensued.

(In the spirit of full disclosure, our school did events like " dress like a twin day." She had been bothered our hair was not the same length, but this part of the story wasn't shared with me till decades later. Sorry we were not better Twins, Ginger!)

Since that memorable hair appointment my hair length has gone up and down, the shortest being in high school ("It's like you were a female Harry Potter!" as one Ex oh-so-delicately put it). As soon as that hair grew long enough it  became a perm and I didn't even have to really brush it. All of which is to say, guys, I have no freaking clue how to style short hair.

I'm loving that, but kind of hating that too. At least The Boy is very tolerant of my morning battles with a hair dryer (what a strange contraption!)

Yay! Polka dots! I love that blouse! <3 Another beautiful backdrop, too. Wow! Ok, you just cut your hair. Haha. Yes, I see this. I like it! I think it suits you!

  3. I think it looks fantastic! I adore this length on you. I'm sure you'll figure out how you want to style it in no time. I've heard before that a lot of women cut their hair right after they get married. I wonder if that had anything to do with it?

    1. For me, getting my hair chopped definitely was related to the wedding being over. I was told to grow out/keep my hair long for the wedding as it is easier to do different styles with/looks more "romantic." After needing to keep it long, it was nice to have a change.

  4. LOVE your hair this length, it's so gorgeous!! And it took me quite a while to get used to mine when I cut it, just takes time. Your polka dot blouse is so lovely :)

  6. I think you've styled it perfectly here! And I like it, but I understand your dilemma. Whenever I "chop" mine off I'm always surprised that I forget I can't braid, twist, and otherwise get it out of my face like I can when it's longer...

  8. I just finished reading through your blog from the very beginning (I think I've found a new favorite read!) and I must say that I did not see this hair change coming. I think it looks absolutely lovely.

    1. Oh wow Margret! Thank you so much; I'm so glad and rather impressed you read so much of my blog! I look forward to getting to know you.

Yeah, the hair cut did kind of come out of no where. I just really wanted a change after growing it out for the wedding, lol! Thank you!

  12. you look sooo pretty with short hair! and being a female harry potter is NOT an insult ;) haha i'd embrace that. i always seem to grow out my hair really long, and then once it hits that length i immediately chop it off. it's safe to say i get bored fast. and when i had a bob i *hated* the blow dryer. what i did was take a hair straightner and flip my ends in with it (rather than pulling it down to make it straight). it's so much easier than a blow dryer and gives you a sleeker look :)

    1. Haha- well, I did look like a female Harry Potter but not in a good way. Still-!

Thanks for the tip about the straightener Marlen. I'll have to try that!

  13. I think your hair looks gorgeous this length: I've always been too scared to cut mine, but I think it looks so sophisticated! I hear you on the styling problems, though - I dream of having hair that requires absolutely no styling at all, but it never seems to happen.

Love the outfit too, and I know you must hear this aaaalll the time, but oh my goodness, your backdrops are SO beautiful!

    1. Thanks Amber! We are very lucky to love somewhere with lots of nature but it is a priority to go and shoot in those places, so the fact that you commented on it really makes our day!
