What I Wore: Shirt (Popbasic), Shorts (Similar Here), Shoes (Old Navy), Necklace (Similar Here), Belt (boutique; Similar Here)

Oh, how I'd forgotten what school was like as student! I've had my head pretty much buried in scholarly journals this past month, taking two online classes for my gifted education endorsement. Only being one credit each, I think I underestimated how much reading that was. And I'll be "taking" three more classes next week; I'm journeying to Iowa for workshops.  To break things up, I'll pause in my reading for little outings and "rewards." Nothing much, just little things like a bowl of ice cream, walking the dogs, hanging at the dock...or opening a package from the mail!

I'd been eagerly anticipating getting Le Breton from Popbasic. A little on the big side, but I think that's how it's suppose to be; at any rate comfy enough for those studying days! For a limited time, Popbasic is selling this shirt with red stripes! Grab yours quick; ordering ends on Friday.

Here's a silly question, but one I really want to know. Do you reward yourself for getting tasks done? It doesn't have to be big (remember mine is most often walking the dog or getting the mail), but do you ever need that as a boost?

  1. Firstly, love how a stripey tshirt always looks good! Second, yes definitely to giving myself rewards. Actually I'm more the other way round. I am mean to myself and don't let me do fun things until I think I've done something useful to balance it. But then, it's usually a little bit of computer games or an episode of Adventure Time as a reward.

  3. Yes, I reward myself for getting things done. When it's bigger things like finishing up a semester at uni successfully it's usually with clothes. If it's little things like cleaning the apartment it's with take-away food (you know, don't want to get those just-finished dishes dirty again!) :D I think this is a very, very lovely outfit and the location of the shoot was just perfect for it! It's also the first time I am back on your blog to see your new hairstyle and I LOVE it! xo

  5. I absolutely reward myself for checking off tasks :) I hate to admit it, but I really need a reward system in order to accomplish certain things.

    also, I love your hair!

    1. P.S. - I wasn't sure if I should share this since it's super unhealthy (but true). Haha. I'll do it anyway. Yes, I reward myself for getting tasks done, but usually it's with basic things like oh I dunno food and water. Haha. I'm a workaholic. It's in my DNA. I get it from my father. Once I set myself to a task, nothing matters except completion of the task. I'll basically sit there until I'm done (provided that I'm not interrupted or someone like my partner or a colleague forces me to get a meal or something). So yeah. I don't recommend it, but that's my reward system.

    2. That is commitment, but then, everyone has their own workflow that goes works for them. I have to eat and drink regularly- otherwise I get migraines. Well, and now I guess low blood sugar too.

  7. Love this summery look! I definitely reward myself when I get tasks done. I don't think I would have the motivation to do them without it :)

  8. Oh, absolutely! I reward myself all the time, hahaha. Maybe more than I should. My rewards are usually simple little silly things, like taking myself out for lunch with a gnarly book to read. :)

But good for you for taking mini breaks between things! You've definitely gotta let your brain rest. These pictures are at such a wonderful location! Your red shoes are such a fun pop of color, as cliche as that sounds. ;)

  9. I often find I don't need a reward for getting something done, just striking it off my "brain list" is enough reward to not have to continue thinking about it.

I love the red shoes here and the classic tee. I have several striped tops and wish they fit more like this one on you. They all seem to have shrunk : ( I just hate it when that happens. Of course if I'd bought them too big then they'd never shrink.

  10. Love this nautical look and how you actually photographed it down by the dock! So perfect. Dang, you really are insanely busy right now! I totally reward myself- there's usually a cocktail and a show waiting for me at the end of hard (and not-so-hard...) tasks :)

  11. ahh good luck studying! i havent done that in years and i feel like it'd be sort of hard to get back into the groove to. and i definitely do the reward system- it helps you chug along once you start losing steam. and just like you, i'd do little things like eat gummy bears or get to watch a quick thirty minute show I've DVRed. I definitely need to be bribed to get stuff done ;)

  12. I'm even worse - I reward myself DURING difficult tasks. Like if I have a big editing/formatting job in front of me, I will take that moment to have a snack, a cup of tea or something like that.

Also: love the belt and flats! And the Breton top looks great.
