What I Wore: Camisole (Old Navy), Shrug (Target), Skirt (Brag Vintage; Similar Here), Shoes (Modcloth), Bracelet (Popbasic; Similar Here

Well, we've made it to Iowa City, and I've been busy at workshops ever since. My head is fairly exploding with new information! What to wear to conferences and such is always such a conundrum. It's not quite work, but you want to look professional. You need to be put together but prepared to sit long hours, walk everywhere and carry whatever you need with you. Added to that this Rock Mountain girl has little idea about how to handle midwest humidity (true story: the first time I was in Chicago in high school, it took me fifteen minutes to figure out "what is this strange thing that seems so different?" because I am that unused to humidity!) Luckily, this pencil skirt never steers me wrong, and can be dressed up or down.

In fact, this outfit is one I wore a few times this summer, including down to the local teahouse where we took photos. The color story reminded me of a rose, but since the green is mint,  it keeps things away from being too Christmas. Would you try this color combination?

  3. I am digging this color combo- mint goes with everything! I am so unused to humidity too and I do not like the direction my curly hair takes in it :) Hope you enjoy the conference!

  4. I love these colors! Especially that maroon. Lol my boyfriend's been in SC like his whole life and he STILL isn't used to our summer humidity. Have fun at your conference!

  5. That does sound like something that'd be hard to dress for! But I'm glad you figured out what to wear. I really love these colors--aqua and red are my favorite together. :)

  7. Conferences are tricky, but pencil skirts are amazing! :D LOL, and yes, humidity is a beast! Dressing professional for the heat/humidity is the worst, but you've nailed it!

  8. I love this colour combo. It looks fresh. Pastel with a dark rich colour is lovely.

You've come to the east right when the humidity is at its worst. It makes everything sticky and kind of gross. But when I think about the winter we've had I'll take the heat and humidity any day over returning to the deep freeze.

  9. Isn't Iowa City a surprisingly cool city? One of my best friends lives there, and I was so shocked with how great the downtown was when I visited her. There are some really awesome stores and food places there.

I always love this skirt on you, and I love it even more with this blonde updo!

  11. This definitely is one of my favorite color combinations :) I just love how fresh and fun it looks, especially with your new hair color! Conferences are always difficult, who likes sitting all day long in a skirt with a tight waistband or something? No thank you! And YES humidity. Sometimes I feel like I'm breathing in water, haha.
