What I Wore: Shirt (Mango), Jeans (Gap), Shoes (Old Navy), Shirt (Popbasic; Similar Here), Necklace (Popbasic; Similar Here)
Wore this out on a date night the day before starting the new job! For the first day, it was all the fun but necessary stuff about health insurance and dress policies, but it was exciting to get to meet co-workers and really start feeling like this is a real thing that's going to happen! Came away feeling both simultaneously better about where I was in terms of planning for the new year, and more apprehensive than ever about being ready for students. Funny how that works, right?
And since I can get nerved up about things- good or bad- having a night out the day before was a great distraction. We headed up to our favorite restaurant in Red Lodge. If you haven't heard me wax poetic about Red Lodge, well, it is adorable, nestled between a narrow valley with little Victorian homes in various states of painted splendor and dishabille. A river runs through it- a happy, rushing, bubbling thing, not the lazy rivers of the midwest. There are trees everywhere, and wild turkeys clutter the streets. It literally looked like a toy town when you come over the ridge, like you could pluck up the buildings with your fingers.
Being in a mountain town, this laid back look really works. I've been wearing it or variations quite a bit this summer. Relaxed, able to do most anything in it, but still put together. Of course, for work this year, I'll be donning more professional clothing, so...gather ye rosebuds- or shorts and laid back outfits- while ye may.
I love mountain towns. I live in a city but the mountains can be seen in our skyline. I think the nature of towns like this make for beautiful photo shoots and a happier sense of self.
Reply DeleteI love the gingham and need some for myself :)

Wow, the scenery is breathtaking and what an adorable picture of your pup! I can't decide what I would prefer: to live by the mountains or ocean, but by either or is best!
Reply DeleteThese photos are stunning. Really fabulous. Especially the shot of the puppy.
Reply DeleteNo doubt you're nervous and excited for the new job. I'm excited for you : )
Gingham is such a classic.

Yay for feeling ready for students!
Reply DeleteI like the laid-back look for you. Your addition of the necklace takes it up a notch, though, so it's not THAT casual. ;)

Reply DeleteI can't wait to hear about the new job!! You look so cute (as usual) and I hope you had a great last hurrah at the Red Lodge :).
Reply DeleteYour state is so beautiful. Love when people share their casual outfits!
Reply DeleteI just LOVED the way you described the town of your date night- it was so pretty and charming. I mean, I'm still smiling thinking about it. And what an excellent idea to go on a date night so you don't just sit at home and fret about the next day. I hope everything went smoothly (and I LOVE your gingham shirt!)
