What I Wore: Downtown

Downtown-4 Downtown-5 downtown_tripytch Downtown-1

When you're alone and life is making you lonely, you can always go...Downtown! ..... Alright, so I'm neither lonely and Cody's downtown is hardly the bustling, urban city where "places never close" described in the rather famous Petunia Clark song. Still, the comparative bustle of this tourist town in summer does have its own charm. Sitting out of doors in the finally-cooling air of evening, sipping yummy things, listening to the music playing outside or drifting out through open windows, watching people window shop or snap pictures of their Great Western Adventure....yes, please!

I'm sure The Boy and I provided plenty of this sort of entertainment to those at the tables behind us at the Silver Dollar and La Comida, that's for sure! If you're a blogger, then you might know the awkwardness of people watching you take outfit shots. Yeah, uncomfortable...but, strangely, people didn't seem to take much notice. It helps that someone else is taking the photos, rather than me scrambling around to set a timer, certainly, but still. Old gentlemen telling The Boy I was pretty or some school kids also wanting their picture taken was about the sum of the attention we drew. Maybe like public speaking, the idea of public photographing is worse than the actual action?

Would you like to see more of Cody and surrounding area? What parts of your home do you most like to share with visitors?

  1. Oh my gosh, I try so hard to avoid people outside whenever I'm taking outfit photos and cannot applaud you enough for your bravery! I This it's so awesome that you took photos in front of these crowded tables.

Love your outfit-- the skirt is a dream!

  2. I have to agree with the reader above! But I really love your necklace! I always bring my visitors to my downtown. It's so much more modern and city-like than other parts of town, which is either really old or just really beachy.

  6. Love that song and your skirt! And I agree that it's much easier and less awkward to take photos if someone else is doing it!

  13. Hello fellow Rocky MOuntain blogger! I am loving the colors and that beautiful flowy skirt!
I totally feel you on the weirdness of taking pictures, which is why I usually choose locations out in nature that are mostly empty! It is so much better having someone take them for you since you feel at least a little bit more legitimate then! I say, as long as you act like you are supposed to be there and like you know what you are doing, people tend to ignore you and just assume its normal!
Hope you are having a beautiful day!

  14. can't decide which pair of your red shoes I like better...
I haven't done outfit photographing like you, but I have only found public photographing awkward once when we wanted an arms-at-length shot and someone kindly offered to take it for us, and we said, "no, we really want to do it ourselves..." that time.
