What I Wore: Dress (Modcloth; Similar Here), Tights (Target; Similar Here), Scarf (Vintage; Similar Here), Coat (Etsy; Similar Here), Socks (Modcloth), Shoes (Old Navy), Belt (Similar Here)

My favorite line from the children's book The Phantom Tollbooth is "I'm the Whether Man, not the weather man. After all, it's more important to know whether there will be weather than what the weather will be!" And I'm sure that is what reading the blog feels like sometimes. You know there is weather and that is enough.

But it is not enough. You guys, the high for today is ONE. So, clearly, that is all anyone can talk about, can think about. Just as clearly, these photos were not taken today, or even yesterday. They are from this weekend. So, while I am bundled in a ski jacket and layers and layers, I'll be dreaming of this outfit.

I've actually styled this white dress several times before, but this might be my favorite reiteration of it. Something about the simple and subtle color scheme reads as sophisticated to me, and the bows on the tights lens just the right amount of whimsy to keep it fun.  Clean and bright feeling, Winter Whites are almost enough to trick me into believing that winter is as fun and romantic as all the Christmas song make it out to be.

Almost.

  1. I really can't even comprehend a high of 1. We are all freaking out in PHX because it's in the 50s this week and our blood isn't used to that ;) I've been craving a white dress lately- very cute and I love the lacy socks! Stay warm, girl!

    1. Well, it is all relative, I'm sure. I can't stand heat (or maybe just complain about weather in general?!)

      Thank you!

  4. Brrr... I can't imagine temps that low anymore, but I probably will again soon enough. It's been freezing more during the nights and mornings and there might be snow again this weekend for us too. I don't even want to think about it yet.

I really love this dress, as I'm sure I've told you before. I love how you paired it with those cute tights and lovely over-the-knee socks :) Very sweet outfit! xo

  7. I had to look up what 1 is in Celcius…EEEEK! That is COLD! There will be no bare legs when it is that cold outside. Bummer.

I love the knee high socks.

    1. When it is that cold here there are also no bare legs. The photos were taken when it was in the forties or so- above freezing anyway.

      Thanks Suzanne!

  8. LOL I saw Lisa's comment up there and had to read because I figured it'd be regarding the weather as well, ditto to what she said! although I discovered that we freak out also because most people don't have decent coats here, so of course everyone is chilly in a t-shirt with a hoodie over. i was actually too toasy yesterday in a vintage peacoat and i get cold easily. but yes one.... insane. and i can't even figure out how you don't have more layers over that dress here as it is. is it warm inside everywhere? but one.. ski jackets indeed! wow. i agree about the outfit, the hearts are the perfect fun touch for the sophistication and love that you brought in a book quote.

    1. Well, the weather was much warmer when the photo was taken on Saturday- in the forties maybe? So that helps.

I had to smile at your coat comment. Seems like a needed basic but if you don't get that weather- we are like that with any sort of rain gear too!

      Thanks.

  12. Cute! I like white in winter. I was almost brave enough to buy some white jeans last week, but they were a bad fit. I did make a special order on modcloth today though!

    1. White jeans somehow sound so much harder to keep clean than an entire dress (why, I don't know), but would be neat.

Can't wait to see what you got from Modcloth :D

  14. Erg, yes the weather is on everybody's mind it seems. I told my hubby that just the other day, that I feel like I have all of these winter outfits I want to wear, but it's too cold to even take the camera outside! What a waste, haha. This is such a pretty way to style this dress. The socks add just the perfect layer and your bows are peeking out just enough to add some adorable :) Also, I'm in love with that bag. So classic but unique at the same time.

  17. Oh my gosh, I remember that book--we had to read it in one of my advanced math classes in middle school. Ah, sweet memories!

So I really love that scarf of yours. It looks absolutely toasty and has such a snuggly sheen. I also love the greyscale tonality of your outfit... gorgeous! :D

  19. One?! One degree?! We've been getting to 30ish this week in San Francisco which is actually a very low low for us. Stay indoors instead :)

  20. Such cute wintery layers Kristian! Those cozy socks are a great way to warm up a pair of tights. But not to keep warm in ONE degree weather! Oh my, how do you ever dress for that? Officially not complaining about Nashville weather anymore. Though it has been quite chilly for this CA girl. I love those tights, too. Hope you are well!
