Grey Sweater | Boater Hat

Striped Shirt | Black Sweater

I had to dig deep into the archives for some of these- back to 2012! It is strange as the jeans get worm a lot more than they appear on the blog, but still. With colored jeans so mainstream, who woulda thunk they were still so tricky to style? Or maybe that's just me. But then they work, they make the whole outfit just that much more cheerful.

What are you secrets to colored pants?

  1. okay.... you've fully convinced me to invest in a pair of colored jeans or pants. I love how classic this looks and you can pair it with literally everything! Your hair got super long too! Love the post Hun.

Hope you find a pair you really like :D

  2. I think my only trick to colored pants is what you've done so well in this remix and wear them with neutral tops. Really love them with the striped top here. :-)

  3. I'm not great with coloured pants. I have one pair of green jeans that I've worn all of ...let me see...3 times? Otherwise the new floral jeans I'm wearing have loads of colours in them so they aren't too bad to style.

You look very classic in these shots.

BTW...I watched Some Like It Hot last weekend and thought of you. Have you seen the dress Marilyn wears in that??? Very risqué for the time. It looked like she was naked half the film! There were still some funny bits in it and Tony Curtis and Jack Lemmon were great.

    1. I loved Some Like It Hot. It was hilarious. I'll have to go back to do a Cinema Style on it. Monroe did indeed wear some fabulous dresses!

  4. oh i love this remix kristian! i have red slacks and i've only worn them on the blog once so maybe that will change soon : ). they def can be hard to remix I think, well, esp red, but i think that's just bcuz i tend to stick w/ the hues you went w/, whites, greys, blacks w/ red as well. esp love your look w/ the trench!

    1. I want to see you in those slacks....And totally not because I've been contemplating some colored slacks for work, but want ideas on how I'd wear them. Not at all...er, okay. Totally that's the reason. :D

    2. haha! I think they're great for work actually! is the dress code at your work sort of like biz casual? my first post in them was here: http://cuddlycacti.blogspot.com/2013/10/business-casual-or-something.html but i also have pink work slacks that i recently stopped wearing, because they're a little big and i havent been feeling the bright pink. but i absolutely need to style up the red ones in a sort of wintery look while i still can. also shucks, i'll have to remember to check back at your posts for when you reply here.

    3. Mmmm... well, I work in an elementary school, so it is not business but professional and generally fairly conservative. But, so long as the fit is conservative and it is not jeans, I think I could do colored slacks.

I do hope to see some winter shots with yours though!

  6. these pants are lovely! though i can understand them being hard to style. they look like a staple but loud colors can sometimes be tricky. i especially like it with stripes!

  10. My tips are...style them like you would a skirt of the same colour. Opt for hues the work well for your figure, and have tons of fun while wearing them - coloured pants are rarely a somber or formal affair and rightfully so.

These red jeans look awesome on you! I had a similar back about and decade ago and just lived in them during the first year of my marriage.

Big hugs & many thanks for your wonderfully nice comment on my 1940s outfit post,

    1. Ah, those are very good tips! Don't why colored pants seem more intimidating than skirts, since colorwise everything is still the same! Thanks!

  11. I only have one pair of colored jeans (my mustard ones), but I want some more. It is hard styling them - I usually go with neutrals or chambray.
