What I Wore: Hat (Topshop), Shirt (c/o Sammydress), Jeans (Gap), Shoes (Modcloth), Pearls (Similar Here), Bracelet (Popbasic; Similar Here)

Last week, I ran across this wonderful quote, "There isn't enough room in your mind for both worry and faith. You must choose which will live one there."

Boy, these past few days have been a challenge to that choice. It is a constant choice to let faith be what fills you. In that spirit, I've been trying to really notice and enjoy those things, small as well as large, that make me happy, and not just happy, but happy to be experiencing this life.  Silly though it may be, those happy things include this hat (a little crushed on arrival but Solonah gave some good advice on using tea kettles for steaming the hat back into shape), and playing along the beach with puppies. There is just something about a floppy hat that makes you feel a bit more carefree, isn't there?

As for the rest of my outfit, it features a few other newer items to my closet too. The shirt is from Sammydress. I've been looking for a white draped shirt forever, so when they sent this to me, I was excited. And it is lovely, very soft and worked well for this afternoon playing by the water. Sammydress provides many cute items for crazily low prices. Still, you get what you pay for; most of the buttons on this are just for show and I'm sure it will not last beyond the season. So, while I enjoy it for now, the lesson is learned: buy those investment basics as, well, investments.

What about you? What do you do to keep worry out and faith a mindset to live in?

  1. Ha- I'm a little bit neurotic and always trying to figure stuff out, so I'm not one to give advice on free spirit living :) Great idea on the hat- I had a crunched one arrive once too and I didn't know how to revive it!

  2. Such a cute summer hat :) Those are words I should definitely try to live by. I worry a lot about the future so lately I've just been trying to pay attention to my current surroundings, focusing on the present moment and noticing all of the new Spring blooms. This way, I can have faith that things in the future will work out when the time come.s

  3. this is something great to constantly keep on your mind! I think being content takes so much more effort than being worried, that seems to come automatically. though I wish it were the other way around. whatever's been on your mind lately, I'm sending you good thoughts :)

I just stole a white button-up from my beau and I'm determined to make it a staple! I don't know why I haven't thought to tie it up like that, such a little twist that looks so classy!

  7. Those jeans are amazing! I love the length of them, so springy. I will have to try the hat steaming trick-I have a couple that are bent out of shape as well and I need some way to fix them!

  8. First of all, CONGRATS on your teaching job!! (I've been creeping regularly, I just didn't have time to sit down and comment!) And I love the quote you shard- it really made me pause and think about it for a minute. I always thought that I was one that just rolled the die and accepted whatever happened, but I guess what I had all along is faith. Which is wonderful, because now I feel a heck of a lot less reckless, haha :)

And I love how the little things keep your worries at bay- and a hat as fabulous as that would definitely do the trick ;)

    1. Thank you.

And yes, I think your choice to leave your job for a less certain career would be the sort of thing that would be so hard to do but the right choice to make you happy :)

  9. I've probably said it a million times but you really do look wonderful in jeans. They fit you like a glove! It's amazing when a simple white top and jeans can look so chic. I need to get some accessorizing advice from you :). I've totally been lusting over a floppy hat this season too, yours is super cute!
