What She Wore: Dress (Modcloth), Shoes (Similar Here), Necklace (Similar Here)
What I Wore: Dress (Chicwish), Necklace (Popbasic; Similar Here), Blazer (Similar Here), Shoes (Madden Girl)

One of my oldest and dearest friends, Ginger, made the trip out to Wyoming for that old cliche of chick flicks- The High School Reunion. And it was...

It was weird, okay? Let's be honest. It was weird. I mean, sure, I only live a town over, so the others who live near by I see every so often (one fellow graduate even has a kid at the school I work at), but not that much, and with Facebook, you can kind of find out about anyone you were wanting to know what ever happened to, I suppose. But that's not why it was weird. There were still faces and people I hadn't seen in ten years. Maybe it was a bit surreal. Most of us had been together since kindergarten- that's a long time. So it was strange to be back with people you hadn't seen and yet knew. But let's call it a good weird, whatever it was. Here's to you, Class of 2004.

The real highlight of the weekend though, was Ginger's trip. I'm lucky in that there are people I've known since before I can remember. Ginger isn't- quite- like that, but awfully close. We were attached at the hip since elementary school. So we baked, we played games, we ate out, we had fun....And we dressed up. Surprisingly, not the blogger's idea, but a ton of fun, even if not many fellow alums did. All dolled up, it felt like we were ready to strut out stuff, meet our fate and... feel better about the horrid haircuts we had in the yearbook (freshmen year, I'm looking at you).

So- did you go back to your high school reunion? Or will you, for all you young ones out there?

  1. I did not go to mine. I really just had no interest as I only attended the high school I graduated from for year, but maybe if I was more connected, I would have.

Anyhow, the photos of the two of you are adorable. And you look gorgeous in that red dress!

    1. Ginger didn't graduate with us. It was something I was really glad the people organizing this did; they invited anyone they could remember having grown up or gone to school with us even if they didn't graduate. And at least three of the people who attended were like that; it was nice.

      Thanks!

  3. I haven't had the chance to go to mine yet, but I can only imagine how weird it will be! The majority of people I graduated with I haven't seen since, especially being in Nashville when I went to HS in CA!

Anyway, it's clear what the goal of one of these is, "Look what all you boys missed out on!" Your outfit is classy, profesh, but still a little sassy. And you look great in red! Glad you had a buddy to go with!! Old friends like that are the best.

    ♥ perfectly Priya

    1. Ha! I'm not sure if that was exactly the goal, as I don't think we ever liked any of the boys at our school in that way (it is harder to when you can remember the silly things they did when they were five), but coming back and looking good? Always a goal :D

Thanks, Priya. Your comments always make my day.

  5. Love the outfits! You can't go wrong with a LBD! :D

It was so weird because I DID go to mine even though I live overseas, my parents flew me back as a surprise visit for my sisters that just happened to coincide with my 10 year reunion. Everyone there asked if I had come back especially for the reunion (which I definitely would not have).

Mine was pretty lame and a pretty apt extension of HS. Nothing was planned. Everyone just showed up at a bar. Most people were still too cool to show up (even after 10 years). Apparently even the people who "organized" it were too cool to show up. Pretty much sums up my HS experience right there! LOL. Maybe things will be different for my 20 year. My sister went to hers 2 years ago and said it was super fun - way more fun than the 10 year. So that gives me hope!

  7. I haven't had an official high school reunion yet, and I'm not sure I would go if there was one. You see, it's kind of a long story, but the gist of it is that though I thought everyone liked me while I was there, in reality I was a socially-awkward-brat-feminazi who rubbed a lot of people the wrong way. I keep in contact with no one from my graduating class (except the dorky dude who became my husband) and honestly, I like it better that way. I have my life and I turned out WAY different than most of them, so yeah. The only reason I would go to one is to show them that I'm not terrible anymore and they were so wrong about me.

but that makes me terrible.. soooooo

on a good note, you look fabulous! :D

    love,

    1. I really feel most people are probably so different from who they were in high school. It is good you feel you've grown in a positive way!

  8. Glad you got to meet up with Ginger! I love your red dress, I'm really interested to see what the back looks like. High school reunions are definitely weird but I hope you had fun :)

    1. The back of Ginger's is just the black fabric. The back of mine you can see here: https://www.activeanglesey.com/2013/03/what-i-wore-for-love-of-films.html

      Thank you, btw!

  10. Aww, you two remind me of Romy and Michelle (without the crazy 90s dresses haha). So cute :) My high school reunion is not for a few years but I haven't kept in touch with anyone so I have no desire to go. I would definitely go to a college reunion though if anyone were to organize one.

  11. Ok, I'm really excited about this post for two reasons. 1) I was the 200th follower and 2) I have a 5 year (what?), yes FIVE year reunion coming up....and I'm not going. It's too soon, and I still need some breathing room from those people I spent 12 years with, haha.

    1. Oh, Angela, thank you so much for following! What an exciting milestone!

Also- yeah. Five years would've been way to early (even 10 feels soon to me!)

  12. You both look so amazing! A reunion totally sounds weird! Ever since seeing that movie Romy and Michelle's High School Reunion, I decided I would NEVER ever go. Plus you are so right, the internet is basically a constant high school reunion.

  13. you both look so tall, slender, and elegant here. and gorgeous! I can't believe you've never seen Romy & Michelle! I have even seen it & I've hardly seen any movies. Anyway, it's silly, but it's fun, or at least when I saw it back in HS I thought so. I'll have my HS reunion next yr & already wonder what I'll wear, which sounds dumb. Did you bring Amos or did ppl not bring significant others? I always imagined bringing Jonny all spiffed up in a suit or something and everyone swooning over his adorable foreign accent haha. glad it was a good weird at least and most importantly, that you got to spend a weekend w/ your great friend.

    1. I did bring Amos! It was probably 50/50 who brought a significant other and who did not (we got more family members at the picnic but less people went to that). Show Johnny off :)
