What I Wore: Sweater (Joules), Dress (Modcloth; Similar Here), Shoes (Old Navy), Leggings (Target), Necklace (Popbasic), Watch (Modcloth; Similar Here), Bracelet (Lulu Frost)

This outfit seemed pretty apropos for my week. I'm going solo this week as The Boy is in Chicago for a conference. And, well, when I say "solo," what I really mean is, it is me and the dogs. Spoiled as they are, they always take center stage, but I have a feeling that will be even more the case here.

As our first anniversary is approaching in June, I realized that, though we've both been away from home since the marriage, this will be the longest at seven days. I like my down-time (extreme introvert here), but still, that's a bit of time. I'm trying not to be down about it- Chicago is pretty cool and conferences are a blast after all, so I'm excited for him. Instead, I'm framing it this way- this week will be focussing on getting projects done, cleaning, and taking the time to call old friends, maintaining those relationships too... And maybe a visit or two to the library, but- let's be real here; what is any week without a visit to the library?

And, Boy, if you are reading this, remember- When you see Heart Mountain, you're close to home. It's something my dad always told us growing up, and along with that other truism, home is where the heart is, I hope that is true for you this week as well <3

  1. Very dog-appropriate outfit! I totally understand how you feel. I also love my alone time... but seven days of it is a long stretch. At least you have the fur-kids to keep you company! :) It'll go by fast.

    1. I'm pretty lucky too in that my family lives close by- and my sister just moved back too. So, I did brunch with my parents one day and dinner with her the next. My mother in law kindly called as well (they also live close by). So, like my dogs, I'm pretty spoiled with people who will keep me company! :)

  5. Aw, a whole week! I can only imagine how difficult that could be, even for an introvert! I love my quiet, alone time, too, but it's still nice to know there's someone else's presence there sometimes, yeah? I'm sure you'll find lots of fun things to fill your time with--like library trips and coffee dates with friends, yeah!

That sweater is precious and I adore your sparkly necklace, too! <3 Have a wonderful week, my dear Kristian!

    1. Yes, ironically, it has felt very busy these past few days exactly because of things like that- visits with people etc. Which has been nice if a bit surprising.

  6. The end of this post was SO incredibly sweet. Oh how I adore you Kristian ^_^ And your outfit of course! The fact that you're writing about your dogs while having a similar one on your shirt is very clever, haha. xo

  8. That is so difficult being home alone for a week after you're married! My husband goes on work trips a few times a year and getting my kitties certainly has made it easier, so I'm glad you have your pups with you!
And you're wearing that beautiful white dress again! It looks great with the darling sweater over it :)

I absolutely get what you mean; I'm an extreme introvers, I love being alone, but...you know, a week is still a week. I always have my kittens with me too tho', pets are pretty good company...:)

    1. How many cats do you have? What are their names (I love hearing about people's pets)?

Early congrats on your first year anniversary. I can't believe it's here already! For us, it was the fastest year of our lives!

  11. That's adorable - the outfit but mostly that quote in the end. I really like that top :) Also, good, positive framing of the situation! You'll see, time will fly - especially if you spend some of it at the library. Have fun!
