July 2014 in Review

Wednesday, July 30, 2014

This month has been so busy and full, that I've really tried to admire all the small things and take them as the small pleasures, the rewards of good living.

Rewarding Outfits
stripes, popbasic, shabby apple, gingham, green, silk, blue shirt, polka dot, never fully dressed, withoutastyle, wyoming,
Rewarding Mail
We reviewed a package from Quarterly Co, shared our black and white stationary wishlist, and learned how to send that perfect piece of fan mail.

Rewarding Movies
We dove into surprise 60s hit Beach Party, looking at the campy film and imitating it's style.

Beach Party, july, never fully dressed, withoutastyle, Rewarding Plans
This month has been an intense one for me, I took multiple, graduate level classes, which left me with a bit of tunnel vision. I'm sure my endless conversations about perfectionism, underachievement and administration was just riveting for The Boy, but honestly, when I was breathing in the stuff there just wasn't room for much else. I even travelled to Iowa for classes!

To break up the monotony of scholarly articles, I read (try Peter Pan if you're looking for something charming) and, after reading this Q+A  about five things in every woman's closet, I dreamt about this list of what I'm shopping for. Honestly, I didn't get much with done from my Why don't you...  list, but a girl can dream, right? Hope your summer is going swimmingly!

Rewarding Finds

Is it The End of the Internet (as we know it, at least)?

A cannot-miss read- J.K. Rowling's new short story about Harry Potter!

Wyoming landscapes caught in lapsed time motion.

A rose by any other name would not smell just as sweet- in Iceland, anyway.

A fascinating interview with the author of The Lost Art of Dress

In Tokyo, penguins will get you where you need to go!

Anyone else counting down the days till the next season of Doctor Who?

The Real Jane Austen

I've been loving Cup of Jo's latest round of Motherhood Around the World.

An a-mazing maze (Get, it?!)

A new blog I'm obsessed with- especially her good shopping advice.

Virginia Wolfe said one needs a room of one's own. Her is hers- and 15 other writers'

  1. Your outfits were simply perfect this month! Loved the one with the polka dot shorts ^_^ I have found Un-Fancy through another blogging friend a while back and have been hooked as well! Not that I'd do a capsule wardrobe myself, but because I had most of the items she wears in my wardrobe and can turn to her for inspiration when I don't know what to wear :-) xo

    1. I'm really fascinated with the idea of a capsule wardrobe but don't know if I really could do it either. But I do love Un-Fancy and the simple style presented there.

  3. I just went through Un-Fancy as well. WOW! Girl's got something figured out.

Also- if I haven't already commented on the gingham + polka combo, that is perfection and could not look any sweeter. I love it!

  4. I love a good rewarding outfit- and the three you chose are definitely top notch! :) And this summer went by WAY too fast- i'm not ready for fall yet! And that "5 ways to shop smarter" post you shared was absolutely genius- i loved her points.
